Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was on the hot seat.
The self-identified Democrat Socialist was facing questions about the biggest defeat of her life.
But then Ocasio-Cortez gave the one answer that left everyone speechless.
The centerpiece of Ocasio-Cortez's socialist agenda is the Green New Deal.
One estimate put the price tag of this big government boondoogle at 93 trillion dollars over ten years.
However, the cost is not even what worries most Americans.
Critics contend the Green New Deal is nothing less than a Soviet-style takeover of the United States economy.
The plan bans airplane travel, hamburgers, cars that use fossil fuels and provides welfare checks to individuals that refuse to work.
But since Ocasio-Cortez carries rock star status with the Democrat party base, all the Senators running for President raced to support the legislation.
Republicans called their bluff and put the Green New Deal up for a vote in the Senate.
And not a single Democrat voted for the bill.
It failed 57-0 with all but two Democrats – including every single Presidential contender that endorsed the plan – voting "present" in protest.
Critics wondered how Democrats could claim so-called "Climate Change" was the greatest threat the planet faced and then refuse to cast even a single vote in favor of a plan Democrats heralded as the solution to this crisis.
That is where Ocasio-Cortez stepped in.
The "mastermind" behind the Green New Deal claimed the Democrats all voting against her proposal was her idea.
She tweeted, "Why did Senate Democrats just duck a vote on your #GreenNewDeal?"
"Because I encouraged them to vote present, along w/ others," Ocasio Cortez tweeted. "McConnell tried to rush the #GreenNewDeal straight to the floor without a hearing.
"The real question we should be asking: Why does the Senate GOP refuse to hold any major hearings on climate change?" Ocasio-Cortez tweeted.
But even that answer didn't make any sense.
Ocasio-Cortez previously claimed that planet would end in 12 years why would the Democrats want to wait for a hearing?
