Interior Secretary Doug Burgum, under the direction of President Donald J. Trump, has announced a sweeping reform to the federal permitting process, cutting approval times for energy and critical mineral projects from several years down to just 28 days.

This bold action follows President Trump's declaration of a national energy emergency, reaffirming his America First agenda and commitment to restoring energy independence and national security.

One-Month Approvals for Key Energy Projects

The new rules fast-track projects involving oil, natural gas, coal, uranium, biofuels, geothermal, kinetic hydropower, and critical minerals. Wind and solar, favored by radical green activists, are excluded from the reform.

Under the updated process:

  • Environmental assessments will now take just 14 days instead of a year.

  • Environmental impact statements will be completed in 28 days, down from up to two years.

Using Existing Law to Put America First

The Department of the Interior will use emergency provisions in existing law—including the National Environmental Policy Act and the Endangered Species Act—to cut red tape.

“This is about energy dominance, economic strength, and national defense,” said Secretary Burgum. “President Trump has made it crystal clear: delays are over. We’re putting American energy back in the driver’s seat.”

Part of the ‘Four Babies’ Strategy

This reform is a pillar of Trump’s “Four Babies” strategy:

  • Drill Baby Drill

  • Map Baby Map

  • Mine Baby Mine

  • Build Baby Build

This bold, unapologetically pro-American approach is focused on unleashing domestic energy, rebuilding infrastructure, and taking control of critical supply chains—all while standing up to globalist agendas and environmental extremism.
