WASHINGTON, D.C. (LifeSiteNews) — Congress could launch an “impeachment inquiry” into President Joe Biden’s business dealings and his “weaponization of government,” according to Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy.
Speaker McCarthy’s comments on Fox News represent a significant step in efforts to impeach Biden. McCarthy killed a vote on the issue just last month.
The announcement comes after testimony last week from two Internal Revenue Service (IRS) whistleblowers who alleged that investigations into Hunter Biden’s business dealings were “slow-walked” and obstructed, according to IRS Supervisory Special Agent Gary Shapley.
“I have witnessed the corrosion of ethical standards and the abuse of power that threaten our nation,” IRS Special Agent Joseph Ziegler testified.
“We’ve only followed where the information has taken us,” McCarthy told Sean Hannity on Fox News Monday night. He said that the alleged corruption “is rising to the level of impeachment inquiry, which provides Congress the strongest power to get the rest of the knowledge and information needed.”
