Two-thirds of American voters supported House Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s meeting with Taiwan’s President Tsai Ing-wen. Moreover, a greater proportion expect China to invade the island nation in the near future.
According to a recent Rasmussen poll, 70% of likely United States voters believe it’s likely that China will invade Taiwan in the next few years, which includes 38% who say such an invasion is very likely. Only 18% don’t believe a Chinese invasion of Taiwan is likely. An additional 11% are unsure.
80% of Republican voters, 66% of Democratic voters, and 65% of independent voters think it is at least somewhat likely that China will attack Taiwan in the next few years.
