President-elect Donald Trump’s pick to run the FBI Kash Patel was told by the agency that he had been targeted by Iranian hackers. Sources told CNN that the hackers likely accessed some of Patel’s communications.

Trump transition spokesman Alex Pfeiffer told the outlet in a statement, “Kash Patel was a key part of the first Trump administration’s efforts against the terrorist Iranian regime and will implement President Trump’s policies to protect America from adversaries as the FBI Director.”

Last month, several of Trump’s cabinet nominees and administration appointees were targeted with bomb threats and "swatting" in what the transition team called “violent, unAmerican threats to their lives and those who live with them.”

Todd Blanche, one of Trump’s attorneys and his pick to be deputy attorney general was informed by the FBI in November that his cellphone was targeted by Chinese hackers. In August, Trump attorney Lindsey Halligan was targeted by Iranian hackers.
