(USAToday) At least five people have been killed and 21 injured in Midland Texas shot by a man who has been killed by police according to a press conference with Odessa Police Chief Michael Gerke. The shooter was described by local authorities as a white male in his mid-30s. The incident started with a traffic violation. The driver opened fire on the officer and fled the scene. The incident began at 2 pm. CST and led to a chase but it remains unclear where most of the other shootings took place or when the shooter changed cars and got into a USPS truck. The shooting comes not long after two other mass casualty event in El Paso Texas and Dayton Ohio. No motive has been given for the Midland-Odessa shooting. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said in a statement that he would be traveling to the area on Sunday.
