(Politico) DANIELLE MUOIO 07/10/2019 10:28 AM NEW YORK A former New York state assemblyman is seizing on an appeals court ruling against President Donald Trump to sue Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for blocking him on Twitter. The suit filed in federal court in Brooklyn states former Assemblyman Dov Hikind was blocked after being critical" of Ocasio-Cortez on Twitter. It claims Ocasio-Cortez has blocked other users who have criticized her including the student organization Students for Trump" and Ryan Saavedra a writer for conservative news outlet the Daily Wire. The suit references an appeals court decision this week ruling President Donald Trump cannot block Twitter users from his personal account. Hikind claims in his lawsuit that the congresswomans actions violate his first amendment rights and calls for Ocaiso-Cortez to unblock him and others similarly situated." No one is above the law. If the courts ruled POTUS cant block people on Twitter why would @AOC think she can get away with silencing her critics?" Hikind tweeted on Tuesday. Hikind who is based in Brooklyn and is not one of Ocasio-Cortezs constituents was blocked by her @AOC twitter account which has almost 4.7 million followers. He served in the Assembly as a Democrat but holds conservative views on a variety of issues.
